Mikolajewski Pitches Complete Game As Baseball Defeats St. Francis, 7-1

CRESTWOOD, Ill. – The Roosevelt University baseball team capped its three-game Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series against the University of St. Francis (Ill.) at Ozinga Field on Sunday, April 18, snapping the Fighting Saints' 11-game winning streak with an impressive a 7-1 victory that saw the Lakers firing on all cylinders.

Jordan Mikolajewski (SR/Plainfield, Ill.) tossed nine innings of five-hit ball for his first complete game as a Laker, and the offense started early and piled on the runs late to leave no doubt.

Andrew Olszewski (JR/Beecher, Ill.) drove in the game's first run on an RBI double in the first and eventually scored later in the frame on Joshua Stivers (JR/Long Grove, Iowa)' RBI groundout.

While Mikolajewski kept the red-hot Saints off the scoreboard with the aid of some great defensive plays, the Lakers eventually broke through for more runs thanks to a power surge in the sixth. Chris Broccolino (SR/Schaumburg, Ill.) and Andrew Rodriguez (SR/Oak Forest, Ill.) hit back-to-back home runs to post a three-spot, and two more runs crossed the plate for the Lakers in the next inning on a wild pitch and another run driven in by Stivers.

Mikolajewski was one out away from the complete-game shutout when the Saints scored on an RBI double in the ninth to finally get a run across against the senior right-hander, who got a popout in oful territory to cap a dominant performance in his best start as a Laker.
