CRESTWOOD, Ill. – The Roosevelt University baseball team concluded its weekend Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference series against Calumet St. Joseph at Ozinga Field on Sunday, April 11, defeating the Crimson Wave by a final of 12-0.
Starter Tom Jager (SR/Oak Forest, Ill.) shined once again on the mound, as the ace struck out 10 CCSJ hitters and allowed just a second-inning single during his seven scoreless innings of dominant one-hit work.
After the Lakers loaded the bases with one out in the first only to come away empty, Roosevelt lit the scoreboard in the second on Tyler Suchy (JR/Oak Forest, Ill.)'s two-run single. The Lakers then put up a crooked number in the third thanks to another two-run hit off the bat of Suchy to go along with run-scoring singles by Matt Donahue (JR/Palos Heights, Ill.) and Andrew Rodriguez (SR/Oak Forest, Ill.) in the same frame.
The Lakers loaded the bases again in the fourth and did not leave empty-handed this time, scoring five runs for the second consecutive inning to help Roosevelt's route to the run-rule result.
