Box Score 2 ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Roosevelt University softball team tangled with a familiar foe in non-conference competition on Tuesday, March 9, taking two games from fellow CCAC member Trinity Christian at The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
Roosevelt jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings and held off Trinity Christian's comeback for a 7-6 win in the first game. The offensive fireworks cooled significantly in game two, as a pitchers' duel between Hailey Getz and two Trolls tossers ensued in the nightcap and extra innings were needed to determine a winner. Thanks to Kelly Farmer, that determination was in favor of the Lakers as she delivered a two-out eighth-inning RBI single through the left side to give Roosevelt a 1-0 walk-off win and doubleheader sweep. The big story was the dominance of game two starter Getz, who threw a one-hit shutout across eight innings for the victory and her best performance as a collegian to date.
