CHICAGO - Roosevelt University senior centerfielder Parker Coleman (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) garnered the final Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Baseball Player of the Week honor of the 2019 season, as a big week in his final regular-season games as a Laker propelled Coleman to his second weekly honor within the past month.
Coleman, affectionately known to his teammates as "Par Dog" and eliciting barks from the dugout every time the Lakers' three-hole hitter steps to the plate, was far from the doghouse this past week thanks to another string of strong offensive performances.
The Flossmoor native hit .542 (13-for-24) in six contests between last Monday and last Friday, also posting a week-long stat line of 10 RBI, seven runs scored, four doubles, a huge triple and four stolen bases in as many tries.
In the late-night affair against Robert Morris to conclude a doubleheader between the two rivals in Bensenville last Wednesday, Coleman went 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs tallied to lead the Lakers to a decisive 19-5 victory.
His four RBI against Judson in a twinbill-concluding contest this past Friday night was highlighted by a bases-clearing triple that brought in three runs and turned a nascent one-run lead into a four-run advantage. Coleman's energizing three-run three-bagger lifted the Lakers to an 11-7 win against the defending CCAC regular-season champions.
On the year Coleman is hiting .338 (47-for-139) with 36 RBI, 33 runs scored, 11 doubles, eight triples and two home runs. His eight three-base hits currently leads all of NAIA.
He is 11-for-12 in stolen bases and, for qualifying hitters, is slugging a team-best .576 with an on-base percentage of .433. Coleman's slugging percentage rates seventh in the league.
Coleman last won the CCAC Player of the Week award on April 9. He joins teammate and junior righthander Matt Garbacz as Roosevelt players honored with CCAC Player of the Week or CCAC Pitcher of the Week this season.
Roosevelt concludes its regular season today with a road affair at Judson in Elgin starting at 4 p.m.
The CCAC Baseball Tournament starts this weekend at Route 66 Stadium in Joliet, with the Lakers currently sitting as the tourney's seventh seed.
