MILWAUKEE – Cam Wicker had a team-leading three hits, including a pair of doubles, but the Roosevelt softball team couldn't rally back from early deficits to host Cardinal Stritch on Thursday afternoon.
The Lakers (6-19, 0-6 CCAC) fell to the Wolves (11-7, 3-1 CCAC) 4-2 in the opener before a three-run fourth broke open a one-run game and led the Stritch coming away with a 5-1 decision.
Roosevelt cut its deficit in the finale to a single run on Kassie Kawka's fourth-inning sac fly that drove in Kelly Farmer.
But the Lakers saw the Wolves respond in the bottom of that same inning with one swing thanks to Paige Kitzing's three-run homer.
Roosevelt stranded 10 runners in game two.
The Lakers saw CSU score two in the first and tack on a run in the second and third innings before RU finally got on the board in the fourth. Haley Huss hit a triple and McKayla Bowen popped out far enough to let Huss come home safely.
Two seventh-inning errors allowed the Lakers to score a run, but Fatime Sino retired the last two batters to end the threat.
Roosevelt continue their road stretch this weekend with a pair of twinbills, starting on Saturday at Saint Xavier.
