WHITING, Ind. – The Roosevelt baseball team overwhelmed host Calumet St. Joseph to cruise to a 20-1 victory on Sunday, completing a series sweep over the Crimson Wave.
The Lakers (3-16, 3-5 CCAC) had as many hits as runs and put the game well out of reach with a 10-run seventh inning.
Five Lakers had at least two hits, with leadoff man Matt Marrera going 4-for-6 while Parker Coleman and Zach Taylor had three-hit afternoons.
Taylor and Matt Kozlak went yard and drove in four runs apiece.
Starter Noah Mathias pitched six of the seven innings, giving up just a single run and four hits in a strong outing, before reliever Jake Meyer ended the game with a scoreless frame.
Roosevelt hosts Trinity Christian at Ozinga Field in doubleheader action this Wednesday, March 27 at 2 p.m.
