Softball Falls To Judson On CCAC Opening Day

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Roosevelt softball team opened its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference slate against Judson on Friday afternoon, falling twice to the Eagles at The Ballpark at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.

The Eagles (10-6, 2-0 CCAC) took a 9-0 decision in game one behind Lindsay Zrdoik's three-hit shutout before holding off a late charge by the Lakers (6-15, 0-2 CCAC), who would not go away without a fight but came up short in an 11-7 loss in the finale.

Amber Green had two hits in game two, including a two-run inside-the-park home run in the fifth inning to prevent a second straight run-rule game, and finished with three hits on the day to go with two runs scored and two runs batted in.

Haley Huss and Caitlyn Santiago equaled Green's performance with two game two hits apiece and three hits for each on the afternoon.

Cam Wicker had two hits in the finale as well in her only start of the day, with Roosevelt matching Judson with 10 hits in the second contest.

Unfortunately the Lakers committed three errors in each game, and RU pitching faced challenges all day on a windy afternoon.

Despite the challenges, Roosevelt would not lay down and scored all seven of its game two runs in the final four frames to show grit and resolve in attempting to rally back from early struggles and close the gap.

Roosevelt will look to bounce back against Cardinal Stritch in Milwaukee this Sunday.
