PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Roosevelt baseball team split a road twinbill against host Trinity Christian at the Schaaf Athletic Fields on Tuesday.
The Lakers won the opener 7-5 before falling the nightcap by a final of 10-4.
Roosevelt moved to 12-14 overall and 8-3 in CCAC play.
Six different Lakers drove in runs during the opener, and Roosevelt's three-run sixth broke a 3-3 and kept the Green and White ahead. The key hit during that frame was Matt Marrera's two-run single, and Jonah Meidl-Zahorodny had a run-scoring base hit.
Matt Dunne earned the win with six innings of work, and Nick Simak earned the save with a scoreless seventh.
Roosevelt led 3-0 after five and a half frames, but Trinity Christian (16-13, 6-5 CCAC) scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to reverse the game's course. Dan Budde hit a three-run pinch-hit home run for the inning's gravest blow.
The Lakers begin a three-game series against St. Ambrose on Friday.
