CHICAGO – Andrew Bohlmann went yard, but the Roosevelt baseball team wasn't able to prevent two multi-run innings from CCAC rival Saint Xavier in a 9-6 loss at Ferrell Field on Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Ward went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and one run scored, Bohlmann hit a solo shot to left center in the second inning, and Leo Lumatto had two RBI's of his own for the Lakers (6-12, 2-1 CCAC).
The Cougars (8-14, 3-0 CCAC) got off to a fast start with a pair of singles that scored three in the bottoms of the first but the Lakers rallied back scoring three runs of their own in the top of the third. Charley Zechske singled to center field scoring Ward, while Leo Lumatto singled to the left side to score Zechske and Zach Taylor.
Saint Xavier tallied four more in the seventh to make a rally difficult for the Green and White, even as the Lakers gave a comeback their best effort with Ward's two-run double to left center.
Roosevelt hosts Saint Xavier at Standard Bank Stadium Monday, March 19 at 1 p.m. in a postponed doubleheader.
