Baseball Scores Twice In Ninth To Force Extras, Falls In 10 At Judson

ELGIN, Ill. – The Roosevelt baseball team rallied back from a two-run deficit in the ninth inning to force extras, but the Lakers were upended by a bases-loaded walk that drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th to give host Judson a 6-5 victory at Hoffer Field on Friday evening.

Logan Fleener and Alvin Perez drove in two runs apiece for the Lakers (6-12, 2-3 CCAC).

The Lakers took a 3-1 lead after six, but Judson (19-10, 5-0 CCAC) scored four times in the bottom of the seventh, with two errors hurting Roosevelt's cause, to take a 5-3 lead that held into the top of the ninth.

That's when Roosevelt put its first two batters on and into scoring position following Jonah Meidl-Zahorodny's sacrifice bunt.

With two away, Fleener hit a single that landed in left center and allowed Andrew Bohlmann and Nick Garcia to come home for a newly-deadlocked game.

The Eagles put two in scoring position against reliever Brett Thomas, and coach Steve Marchi summoned Jalan Williams from the bullpen. After an intentional walk to load the bases and put a force out in play, Williams faced Sam Visconti and eventually had ball four called by the home plate umpire to push home the decisive run.

Matt Dunne allowed just two earned runs in 6.2 innings.

Roosevelt and Judson resume their series at Standard Bank Stadium on Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
