Baseball Splits Two In Tennessee

Box Score

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Roosevelt baseball team almost picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, but the Lakers settled for a split against a Central Methodist (Mo.) squad receiving Top 25 votes and 24th-ranked Freed-Hardeman.

The Lakers opened the day with a 3-1 win over Central Methodist before taking a 6-3 lead into the final inning against the host Lions before Roosevelt saw a four-run rally upend its chance for an undefeated day as Freed-Hardeman came back for a 7-6 win.
Roosevelt is now 3-2 on the season.
Tyler Ward led the Lakers with four hits on the afternoon.
In the win over CMU, Roosevelt broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth when Andrew Bohlmann hit a two-run single.
Matt Dunne tossed a complete game for the win, allowing just three hits and a run while fanning four.
In the nightcap against FHU, Roosevelt scored four times in the second inning. The crushing blow came on Jonah Meidl-Zahorodny's two-run homer.
Roosevelt scored two more in the third on Parker Coleman's two-run single and led 6-2 after three full innings.
Freed-Hardeman tacked on a run in the fifth, but the Lakers still maintained a three-run advantage in support of Jared Jayne's strong six innings.
The seventh proved to be less than ideal. Chase Young hit a two-run homer with one out to make it a one-run game, and after Jayne hit a batter, Houston Looser hit a game-tying RBI triple that chased the Roosevelt starter and put the winning run 90 feet away from home.
Darcy Moore then hit a single off of reliever Brett Thomas in the next at-bat to give the hosts a walk-off win.
Roosevelt will close its stay in Tennessee on Sunday against Central Methodist.
