Knies Shines With Three RBI, But Baseball Felled By Bryan, 7-3

DAYTON, Tenn. – Freshman Jon Knies drove in all three of the Roosevelt baseball team's runs during a 2-for-3 day at the dish, but the Lakers saw an early lead evaporate at the hands of host Bryan (Tenn.) in a 7-3 loss on Monday.

Knies drove in two go-ahead runs in the top of the second on a single and one in the fourth on a double.

Bryan (17-6), a team receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll, posted back-to-back two-run innings in the second and third frames and added three late insurance runs to hold off the Lakers (1-4).

Matt Dunne allowed six runs in seven innings in his Roosevelt debut on the mound.

The first game of the Lakers' two-game set against Bryan was moved to Monday after concerns over weather in the southeastern Tennessee city.

The second game between the Lakers and the Lions will take place this Wednesday at 4 p.m. Central.
