Kostecki, Knies Shine In Baseball's 8-1 Win At Saint Xavier

CHICAGO – Brady Kostecki tossed eight innings of one-run ball, and the Roosevelt baseball team swept its three-game series against Saint Xavier by breaking Monday's one-run contest open with six late runs in an 8-1 victory at Ferrell Field.

Jon Knies went 4-for-6 with three RBI with three RBI for the Lakers (7-13, 5-8 CCAC), who have won four in a row.

Roosevelt scored a run in the first and traded tallies with Saint Xavier (6-15, 4-9 CCAC) in the second before the Lakers scored two in the sixth on back-to-back RBI hits from Alvin Perez and Nick Garcia.

The Lakers tallied three in the eighth, with two coming home on a double by Knies, and another in the ninth, and that was more than enough for Kostecki's five-hit magic on the mound and Jared Jayne's scoreless ninth.

Roosevelt heads to Palos Heights for two against Trinity Christian on Tuesday.
