CHICAGO - Casey Davis scored a team-high 17 and Tori Clark added 14, but the 11th-ranked Roosevelt women's basketball team had a difficult all-around day in a 70-52 loss to sixth-ranked Cardinal Stritch at the Lillian and Larry Goodman Center on Saturday.
Clark added six rebounds and three blocks for the Lakers, who fell to 9-4 and 2-2 in CCAC play.
Julie Raeder scored a game-high 20 points for the Wolves, who moved to 9-1 and 4-0 in their CCAC ledger.
Stritch scored the game's first five points before taking a 14-4 lead less than five minutes into the contest.
It didn't get much better from there for the Lakers, who whittled their deficit down to six before the Wolves enhanced their advantage to 17 thanks to an 8-0 burst.
Clark would aid the Lakers' cause with 10 first-half points to keep the hosts in the game, but Stritch seemed to have an answer to every Roosevelt run.
The Lakers were hindered by a woeful showing from the charity stripe. Roosevelt missed 10 of 16 from the line in the first half and eventually made just 11 of 26 free throw attempts.
Second-half shooting from the field was less than pleasing for the Lakers, as Roosevelt connected on only nine of its 31 attempts for a 29 percent display that prevented the hosts from digging out of a double-digit hole.
The Lakers couldn't get going from downtown, either, as they made just one of 14 from behind the arc.
Saturday's 52-point output was the lowest total for the normally high-octane Roosevelt offense since Feb. 14, 2012.
Roosevelt hits the road to Elgin to take on Judson this Tuesday, Dec. 17.
