Chicago, Ill. - The Roosevelt University women's tennis team started off their final road trip with a 7-2 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Friday morning.
After dropping singles matches at No. 1 and No. 2, the Lakers (5-10, 1-3) stormed back and swept the rest of the matches. Freshman
Shaina Nolley pulled out a three-set victory over Angela Hughes at No. 4 singles. She won the first 6-4, but dropped the next 4-6, which forced a deciding third. In the extra set, Nolley prevailed 10-8.
With a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sammy Murphy at No. 3 singles, freshman
Carina Balan picked up her team-leading ninth win of the season.
The Lakers swept the doubles competition for the fourth time this season. The duo of freshman
Valerie Vasquez and senior
Tina Berto lead the team with six doubles victores.
With the loss, the Crimson Wave fall to 0-16 on the season.
