Lakers Struggle In Loss To 18th-Ranked Bulldogs

CHICAGO – Marie Outlay scored 21 points Monday night, but it was not enough as Roosevelt fell to No. 18 Ferris State 81-53 at the Goodman Center in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.

The junior again came alive in the fourth quarter for the Lakers, scoring 13 points on 5 of 6 shooting over the final 10 minutes. She also added eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the setback, carrying Roosevelt on a day when not much else went right.

Kelly Boyle scrapped her way to 10 points and Isabel Lindo dished out five assists, but Roosevelt (6-15, 5-9 GLIAC) fell into too big of a hole to escape. Ferris State inched ahead by six points after the first quarter then extended the lead to 18 at halftime. The Lakers managed to hold the Bulldogs off the scoreboard for nearly the first four minutes of the third quarter, but scored just three points in that span.

Aubrey Leonard scored eight points for the Lakers and also had three steals. Isabella Pitta scored six points with five rebounds and Ava Brandenburg chipped in five points as well.

UP NEXT: The Lakers will try to regroup Thursday when they travel to face No. 1 Grand Valley State at 4:30 p.m. in Michigan.
