HAMMOND, Ind. — Roosevelt fell 2-0 to Purdue Northwest on Sunday in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference finale for both sides in Indiana.
The Lakers (6-4-6, 4-4-4 GLIAC) dropped to the No. 5 seed with Sunday's results, earning them a return trip to Parkside next week for the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals. A win over the Rangers would send Roosevelt to the semifinals at No. 1 seed Saginaw Valley State on Nov. 6.
Roosevelt owned the first half with an 8-3 edge in shots and put four of those chances on target, but none of them were able to evade the Lions goalkeeper. Purdue Northwest opened the scoring in the 59th minute and doubled its lead in the 73rd. The Lions held a 7-6 shots advantage in the second half, forcing two saves from Cedrik Strupler in addition to the two goals they scored.
