CALEDONIA, Mich. – Roosevelt was swept by Davenport on Friday night in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action in Michigan.
The Lakers were led offensively by Aleksandra Barac and Imani Lee, both of whom registered six kills in the match, while Braelyn Marshall and Abigail Wutka added five kills each. Colby Watson was part of three blocks for Roosevelt and Lee led the team with seven digs in the match. Merryck Brackett had 19 assists to pace the offense.
The first set was a tightly contested affair until Davenport ran off seven straight points with a 16-15 lead to win the set 25-18. The Panthers won the second set 25-14, but the Lakers (5-9, 2-5 GLIAC) put up a strong fight in the third. The two teams went back and forth in what turned out to be the final set, and both of Roosevelt's aces in the matches came in the third. However, Davenport won the final four points for a 25-22 victory to close out the match.
