Roosevelt Drops Road Contest At Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Roosevelt dropped an 82-68 contest to Ferris State on Saturday in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action in Michigan.

Dante Sawyer led the Lakers (1-10, 0-4 GLIAC) in scoring for the second straight game with 22 points. The senior made 9 of 10 from the free throw line as part of Roosevelt's effort to counteract a rough night on the perimeter. The Lakers made 19 of their final 21 attempts from the charity stripe

Hamahrie Bowers became the first Roosevelt player this season to reach double figures on the glass with 10 rebounds to go along with his 11 points. Mikey West chipped in 14 points, six boards and three assists while Davon Smth-Johnson added nine points.

Saturday was the first career start for Mason Kleinsmith, and he made an immediate impact by picking the pocket of a Ferris State player in the opening seconds for a fastbreak layup. The redshirt freshman finished with four steals and six points while also dishing out a team-best four assists in the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lakers return to the court Thursday at the Goodman Center against Saginaw Valley State with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
