Dante Sawyer eclipsed 20 points for a third straight game, but it was not enough as Roosevelt fell 93-68 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action to Saginaw Valley State on Thursday night at the Goodman Center.
The senior from San Francisco continued his hot start to 2026 with 21 points against the Cardinals, making five 3-pointers in the game. He made 3 of 4 from behind the arc in the second half as one of three Lakers who finished with at least 10 points over the final 20 minutes. Hamahrie Bowers scored 11 of his 14 points after halftime and Kaleim Taylor scored all 13 of his points in the second half.
Among the other highlights for the Lakers (1-11, 0-5 GLIAC) was the debut of Ephraim Chase, who came off the bench for the final four minutes. The freshman scored his first collegiate points by sinking a pair of free throws then added a layup to finish with four points.
