SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – A late first-half run doomed Roosevelt in a 98-67 loss to Lake Superior State on Thursday in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference matchup in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Although the Lakers never led, they had managed to battle their way back to within seven with a quick 6-0 spurt with five minutes left in the first half. However, Lake Superior State closed the half on a 13-0 run with Roosevelt missing all six of its shots, and the game was never closer than 20 points the rest of the way.
Hamahrie Bowers led the way for Roosevelt (2-16, 1-10 GLIAC) with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Dante Sawyer and Davon Smith-Johnson both cracked double figures with 10 points each.
