CHICAGO – Roosevelt could not keep up with No. 1 Grand Valley State in a 75-37 loss to the defending national champions Saturday at the Goodman Center.
The reigning Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions struggled in the first half against the Lakers, scoring a season-low 33 points on 32.4 percent shooting. Roosevelt's defense struggled to convert itself into offense as the Lakers scored just two points off 12 takeaways in the opening 20 minutes.
Marie Outlay was again the leader on both ends of the court for Roosevelt (4-13, 3-7 GLIAC) with 14 points and four steals. The junior also had a block, five rebounds and two assists for the Lakers. Aubrey Leonard grabbed a team-high six rebounds while Ava Brandenburg and Isabella Pitta tied with six points each.
