Roosevelt Falls On Road To No. 11 Lake Superior State

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Roosevelt's road trip continued Saturday with an 85-66 setback against No. 11 Lake Superior State in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

The Lakers led just twice in the game at 14-12 and 16-14, but they never let the No. 11 team out of their sights in the opening half. Roosevelt (6-13, 3-8 GLIAC) fell behind by 11 with 5:45 left in the first half, but scored the next eight points before the media timeout to pull within a possession. After Lake Superior State threatened to stretch the lead back to double figures at halftime, Forte Prater knocked down a 3-pointer for his first points of the game to cut the deficit to four at intermission.

It was a different story in the second half as Lake Superior State began to pull away in a hurry. Roosevelt's deficit hit double digits less than three minutes into the half and it stayed above 10 points for the final 14 and a half minutes of the game. Daniel Reed played well in the second half to spark the Lakers with nine points while making both of his shots and all four of his free throws. Fred Robinson IV also scored nine points in the second half to finish with 14.

Enari Thomas again led Roosevelt in scoring with 15 points, making 7 of 16 from the field, while Prater finished with eight. Kennedy Brown also joined Reed with nine points in the game and tied with Griffin Yaklich for the team lead with six rebounds each.

UP NEXT: The Lakers conclude their four-game road trip with another top-15 foe, traveling to Big Rapids, Mich. to face No. 15 Ferris State at 6:30 p.m.
