HAMMOND, Ind. – Roosevelt's offense struggled Friday night in a straight-sets loss to Purdue Northwest in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action in Indiana.
The Lakers (2-24, 1-13 GLIAC) committed only 16 attack errors, their second-fewest this season, but also had just 21 kills in scoring only 43 points across the three sets.
Alessia Isgro led Roosevelt with six kills while
Nekane Parera and Ella Portu added four kills each.
Regan Miessler entered in the third set and recorded four digs to tie for the team lead along with
Cydney Martinez, and Portu also had three blocks for the Lakers defense.
Purdue Northwest went on a 9-0 run that featured both Roosevelt timeouts to blow open the first set with an 11-point lead. The Pride went on to win the set 25-10, but the Lakers responded in the second set with both of their leads in the match. However, an ill-timed 4-0 run for Purdue Northwest that included two aces gave the Pride the space to pull away for a 25-18 win in the second set.
Roosevelt fell behind early in the third set by dropping four of the first five points before rallying to tie the set at 7. The Pride simply scored the next seven points to run away with a 25-15 win in the final set. Purdue Northwest hit .444 in the match and served up 10 aces while Roosevelt had just four aces while hitting .069.
