KENOSHA, Wis. – Roosevelt's shooting was as as chilly as the Wisconsin weather outside as the Lakers fell 72-46 on Monday evening in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Parkside in Kenosha, Wis.
It took nearly seven minutes for the Lakers (3-7, 1-3 GLIAC) to make its first basket, and
Alexia Lohman's layup came almost three minutes after Roosevelt first got on the board. Roosevelt finished a frigid 15 of 62 from the field in the game, including a frosty 5 of 26 from behind the arc.
Yet despite making just 20 percent of its shots in the first quarter, Roosevelt trailed by just eight after 10 minutes. That boost of confidence allowed the Lakers found a little rhythm in the second quarter, and they cut the deficit to five with less than four minutes until halftime. However, Roosevelt was just 2 of 8 the rest of the way to trail by 11 at the intermission.
Kencia Levasseur provided some early energy off the bench for Roosevelt, and the junior finished with a team-best nine rebounds.
Marie Outlay was again finding ways to make an impact on both ends of the floor with four steals and six rebounds to go along with her 10 points.
Lexie Sinclair paced the offense with 11 points and she also added four steals for the Lakers.
UP NEXT: Roosevelt will start its road trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula on Saturday with an 11 a.m. tipoff against Michigan Tech.
