Chicago, Ill. – The Roosevelt women's volleyball team collected its first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory on Saturday evening at the Goodman Center with a four-set triumph over Lake Superior State, 25-15, 25-22, 27-29, 25-19.
Senior
Aleksandra Barac led Roosevelt (3-20, 1-11) with a double-double performance, tallying season-high marks with 17 kills and 13 digs.
Viktoria Marysheva and
Emily DeBlecourt also reached double digits in kills with 13 and 11, respectively.
Behind eight service aces and four kills apiece from Barac, Marysheva and DeBlecourt, Roosevelt took the opening set from Lake Superior State, 25-15. Barac added six kills, including the final tally, as Roosevelt edged Lake Superior State, 25-22, in the second stanza.
Lake Superior State (7-16, 2-10) staved off two match points in the third set to rally past Roosevelt, 29-27. Roosevelt then found itself down 16-15 in the fourth set, but regained its footing. The home side tabbed nine of the next 11 points and then closed out the match, 25-19, on a kill by Barac.
Roosevelt will look to continue its winning ways on Friday, November 8, travelling to take on UW-Parkside at 6:00 p.m.
