ALLENDALE, Mich. – Roosevelt was swept by No. 16 Grand Valley State on Saturday in Allendale, Mich. To close out another Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road swing.
The visiting Lakers (1-13, 0-6 GLIAC) never led in the match as they were swept 25-8, 25-11, 25-16 by the hosts. Grand Valley State scored the first 11 points of the match and 15 of the first 16 points overall to take a commanding lead. A service error gave Roosevelt a break in the second set at 2-1 before Grand Valley slowly pulled away. The Lakers went down 7-0 in the third set, but rallied back to 10-7 before the hosts pulled away.
Aleksandra Barac led the team with six kills and
Isa Grana had 11 assists to pace the team. On defense,
Cydney Martinez had a team-best seven digs and
Yuliia Shchepkina was a part of both of Roosevelt's blocks in the match.
UP NEXT: Roosevelt heads to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for the first time next week when it faces Northern Michigan on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Marquette.
