MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Roosevelt women's volleyball team claimed the opening set versus Northern Michigan on Friday night, but the host Wildcats found a way to navigate a valiant effort by the Lakers in the next three sets to prevail 22-25, 25-21, 25-9, 25-23 at Vandament Arena.
Emily DeBlecourt led the way for Roosevelt (1-14, 0-7) with a double-double performance, finishing the night with a season-best 12 kills while adding 10 digs and three service aces.

Viktoria Marysheva each tallied nine kills against the Wildcats.
Isa Grana set up the Lakers attack with at season-best 36 assists.
McKenzie Gruner paced the Wildcats (11-4, 7-1) with 15 kills.
Roosevelt never trailed in the opening set, taking the opening frame, 25-22. The Lakers made a late rally, staving off three set points, before falling 25-21 in the second stanza. After Northern Michigan took the third set by a 25-9 margin, Roosevelt looked to be on its way to evening the match in the fourth, leading 23-21 following a late, three-point rally. The Wildcats proved resilient on their home court, though, stringing together the next four points to secure their fourth consecutive victory.
Roosevelt will continue its road swing through upper Michigan with a contest at Michigan Tech on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
