ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Roosevelt's dominance on the ball was not enough as St. Cloud State escaped with a 1-0 win over the Lakers Friday night in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match in Minnesota.
The Huskies were receiving votes in this week's coaches poll, but it was the Lakers (3-2-2, 1-2-0 GLIAC) that controlled much of the play. Roosevelt finished with a 16-8 advantage in shot attempts, including a 6-4 edge in shots on goal, while also holding a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Yet St. Cloud State scored in the 37
th minute to supply the game's only goal.
The Lakers ramped up the pressure in the second half, forcing five saves out of the Huskies goalkeeper over the final 45 minutes.
Sebastian Rodriguez led Roosevelt with two shots on goal and
Eric Carvajal made three saves in goal for the Lakers.
UP NEXT: Roosevelt will try to snap its skid Sunday at Northern Michigan with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. in Marquette, Mich.
