KENOSHA, Wis. – A late heartbreaker sent Roosevelt to a 2-0 loss on Sunday afternoon against Parkside in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup in Kenosha, Wis.
The Rangers scored early in the 12
th minute, and from there, the Lakers began to assert more control over the game. Roosevelt (6-4-2, 4-4-0 GLIAC) finished with an 18-14 edge in shot attempts yet Parkside led 5-4 in terms of shots that actually made it on target. The Lakers also won four corner kicks in the match and conceded only three, but allowed a second goal in the 86
th minute to seal the game.
Luca Swinton had an early chance stopped by the Parkside goalie then
Omar Yousaf had his low shot denied as well later in the half.
Noah Vasilev had a try ring off the crossbar in the first half and
Davide Comai hit one off the upper woodwork again in the second half. Yousaf had a great chance stonewalled in the 57
th minute after he was alone on goal, then had a last-second shot also saved.
UP NEXT: The Lakers return to Morris Field on Friday to begin a four-game homestand to close out the regular season. Roosevelt will face off with St. Cloud State at 2 p.m. on Friday as it looks to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Huskies earlier this month.
