Football Loses to 21st Ranked St. Francis 14-0 on Senior Day

Box Score

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University football team honored their senior class in a pregame ceremony on Saturday, November 6 and then unfortunately dropped a MSFA Midwest League game to 21st ranked University of St. Francis (Ill.) by the score of 14-0 at Morris Field on "Senior Day."  The loss evened the Lakers league record at 3-3 and dropped their overall record to 4-5 on the year.

Neither team was able to get points on the board in the first quarter with the Lakers coming the closest, missing on a 42-yard field goal attempt on their first possession.  However, the Fighting Saints put together a drive at the end of the quarter and capitalized for a touchdown on a 24-yard pass play for a 7-0 lead with 13:45 left in the second quarter.

On the next possession, the Lakers were held to a three and out and were forced to punt.  Roosevelt tried a bit of trickery with a fake punt, but Tyler Haase was stopped for a loss on the run, giving St. Francis the ball at the RU 24-yard line.  Six plays later, the Fighting Saints converted for a touchdown on a six-yard run to take a 14-0 lead and the score remained that way at the half.

The 14-0 score line would hold for the rest of the game, as both teams struggled offensively in the second half with neither team moving the ball into the red zone in the final 30 minutes of play.
