Women's Basketball Celebrates Seniors, Finishes Home Slate Versus St. Ambrose

CHICAGO – The Roosevelt women's basketball team saluted seniors Lindzy Cox, Cearrah Huddleston, JayShari Chears and Jordan Fierst during a pregame ceremony at the Goodman Center on Wednesday night, as the Lakers celebrated Senior Day and took on St. Ambrose in the home regular-season finale.

Roosevelt fell to the visiting Fighting Bees by a final of 79-59 after SAU outscored the Lakers 22-10 in the second quarter to break open a two-point affair.

Cox led the Lakers (7-22, 6-15 CCAC) with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Chears added 11 points and an emphatic block.

Huddleton tallied eight points to go with five steals and six boards, and MicQuasha Riddle came off the bench to add eight points and eight assists.

Ashley Smoldt also added eight points.

Kylie Wroblewski led all players with 23 points and 13 rebounds for St. Ambrose (15-13, 13-8 CCAC), who opened the fateful second with a 12-0 burst.

Roosevelt got its deficit down to nine in the middle of the third quarter, but St. Ambrose used another 12-0 run to go back up big.

Despite creating 18 SAU turnovers, the Lakers made just one of their 18 attempts from downtown.

Roosevelt concludes the 2019-20 campaign on the road at Trinity Christian this Saturday afternoon. The game in Palos Heights tips off at 1 p.m.
