ADRIAN, Mich. – Makenzie Cooper's all-tournament team showing helped the Roosevelt volleyball team split four matches at the Siena Heights Invitational this weekend.

Roosevelt moved to 4-4 on the young season by going 2-2 at the invite.

The Lakers started with a sweep of Bethel (Ind.) on Friday, as the Lakers were spurred by Cooper's 12-kill, 8-dig, 2-block showing in a 25-21, 30-28, 25-20 decision.

Against a tough team from Taylor (Ind.), the Lakers fought hard by struggled in a 25-18, 25-18, 25-19 loss to end the opening day.

Saturday started with a tough proposition in facing the host Saints. Roosevelt was undeterred early by taking a 25-20 first-set decision, but Siena Heights rallied for 25-22, 25-19, 25-15 wins in consecutive sets to win in four frames. Kendra Lee was the star with 15 kills and just three errors to go with eight digs.

Capping the day for the Green and White was a date with Rochester (Mich.). The Lakers won the first two sets before the other RU captured the third stanza. But between Cooper (10 kills, nine digs) and Lee (13 kills, 10 digs), Roosevelt had enough firepower to mow down the Warriors in the final set, winning 25-15, 25-12, 18-25, 25-17.

Cooper totaled 38 kills, 32 digs and 13 service aces across 14 sets in four matches to garner all-tourney honors.

Roosevelt hosts Governors State at the Goodman Center this Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. to open conference play.
