Jasmine Chambers was announced as the Lakers new women’s volleyball head coach on Jan. 20 after spending the 2025 season as the associate head coach at Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina, a fellow NCAA Division II institution.

Chambers is a rising star in the coaching world and was one of 85 coaches selected to participate in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy. The three-day program – in partnership with WeCOACH and the NCAA – is designed to empower female coaches through advanced leadership development and team-building strategies.

In addition, Chambers is part of the Big Ten Volleyball Mentorship Program, where she is paired with Brad Keller from the University of Southern California. This program was dedicated to elevating diverse leaders in the coaching profession, connecting younger coaches with successful veteran counterparts.

Prior to working at Newberry, Chambers was an assistant coach at South Carolina State for two seasons and was the head coach at Lamar Community College in Colorado for the 2022 campaign.

The native of Fort Worth, Texas was a collegiate standout at Alcorn State University from 2017-2021 and finished her career in the top 10 for single-season and career assists. She spent the 2021-22 season as a graduate assistant at Division II Midwestern State in Texas and was awarded the 2021 AVCA Diversity Coaches Award.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Alcorn State as well as a master's degree in Sports Administration from Midwestern State. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Columbia International University.
