CHICAGO - After dominating Wayne State to open their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference campaign a week ago, the Roosevelt Smash team followed up with another impressive performance, moving to 2-0 in the conference after the win Monday night over Davenport.
Hugo "Loki" Campos was the hero in the first game, as the Lakers and Panthers found themselves locked in a tight battle. With both teams down to their final crew members, Campos found herself with a slight advantage after Afaan "Chito" Ali managed to take a stock off Davenport's final challenger. The freshman remained composed, quickly taking Davenport's final 2 stocks without losing one herself to put the Lakers in the driver's seat.
Game 2 wasn't nearly as close, as senior captain Michael "Avian!" Noel took a whopping 9 stocks from Davenport himself before bowing out. Ali then stepped in to close out the game, with the junior taking down the Panthers' last hope, 3-1, and securing the victory for Roosevelt.
UP NEXT: The Lakers Smash team will look to move to 3-0 in GLIAC play as they face Ferris State at 6 p.m. next Monday.
