CANTON, Ohio – Roosevelt dropped its final game of the opening weekend in straight sets to Charleston on Saturday at the Hall of Fame City Classic in Canton, Ohio.
Abigail Wutka led all players with 10 kills, half of which came in the opening set. The Lakers (1-2) were neck and neck with the Golden Eagles for the first part of the match before Charleston began to extend the lead late for a 25-18 victory. It was a similar story in the second and third set as Charleston pulled away late for a pair of 25-20 wins to close out the sweep.
Madison Howard led the Lakers with 14 digs while McKenzie Bernard had five blocks and Colby Watson had four stuffs. Makena Wesol finished with five kills while Merryck Brackett aided the offensive effort with three aces.
UP NEXT: Roosevelt returns to Chicago for its home opener Tuesday against Olivet Nazarene with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Goodman Center.
