Kailey Hancock Named GLIAC Pitcher Of Week

BAY CITY, Mich. – Kailey Hancock was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday after a standout weekend at the Lewis Invitational.

The junior from Chicago went 2-0 with a .48 ERA while also picking up a save in the final game of the weekend against Lewis. She threw 14.1 scoreless innings over four appearances before allowing her first run of the season with two outs in the final inning against Lewis. It is the first weekly award of Hancock's career.

"Kailey's recognition as GLIAC Pitcher of the Week is a direct reflection of her preparation, competitiveness, and composure in big moments," Roosevelt head coach Michele Alexander said. "She's not only performing at a high level, but she's also an incredible teammate and leader on and off the field. It's been amazing to watch her growth and success over the years, and I'm excited to see what she continues to accomplish."

A second-team All-GLIAC pick last season, Hancock came on in relief Thursday to pick up the win over St. Cloud State. She threw four innings in the victory over the Huskies, allowing just two hits while shutting down St. Cloud State to preserve the 3-2 victory. Hancock was nearly flawless on Friday in a complete-game 4-0 win over Bemidji State as she scattered three hits and struck out four across her seven innings in the circle.

Hancock was needed for just one inning Saturday against William Jewell, but escaped a bases-loaded situation with no outs, limiting the Cardinals to just a single run during her outing. She then ended her weekend by throwing 2.2 innings against the Flyers to pick up the save in a 14-5 win over Lewis. She threw just 32 pitches to pick up those eight outs while giving up just two hits.
