Houghton, Mich. – The Roosevelt women's soccer team continued its five-match GLIAC road trip on Friday, visiting the Upper Peninsula to take on Michigan Tech. After the two sides played to a draw earlier this season, the Lakers were unable to earn a result in this contest, falling to the host Huskies 2-0 at Sherman Field.
The loss dropped Roosevelt to 1-8-3 on the season and 1-6-1 in league play. Michigan Tech collected its first victory of the season to move to 1-10-1 and match the Lakers in the GLIAC table at 1-6-1.
Friday's contest appeared to be headed for a scoreless draw at the half when Michigan Tech's Karli Koskinen netted her first goal of the season in the 45
th minute. Roosevelt pushed for the equalizer in the second half, putting eight shots on goal. The Huskies kept the Lakers at bay before doubling its advantage with a goal in 85
th minute.
Roosevelt will remain in the Upper Peninsula for its next game, a Sunday match up at Northern Michigan at 11:00 a.m.
