Lakers Fall To 23rd-Ranked Bulldogs On Road

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Another strong second half was not enough for Roosevelt in a 78-60 setback against No. 23 Ferris State on Saturday in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.

The Lakers (2-9, 1-3 GLIAC) trailed by 23 at the break, but again made the opponents sweat with timely stops and transition baskets. Roosevelt limited Ferris State to just 31 percent shooting in the second half and outscored the Bulldogs 34-29 over the final 20 minutes.

Marie Outlay carried the momentum of her game-winning shot into Saturday's contest, pacing the Lakers with 19 points on 6 of 14 shooting. However, the junior guard was an all-around force in helping Roosevelt claw as close as 14 early in the fourth quarter. Outlay scored 12 points, grabbed seven boards and picked up four steals in the second half to lead the charge. She finished the game with 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals in addition to her 19 points.

Isabella Pitta's streak of double-doubles came to an end as the junior scored just eight points to go along with her 12 rebounds. However, Pitta did tie the program record with her fifth straight game of at least 10 rebounds, bringing her average above 10 rebounds per game this season.

Kelly Boyle was the only other Roosevelt player in double figures with 14 points and she added four helpers as well. Nina Susic scored six points in eight minutes off the bench, hitting all three of her shots while grabbing two offensive rebounds.

UP NEXT: The Lakers are back in action Thursday at the Goodman Center for a 5:30 p.m. matchup against Saginaw Valley State.
