DETROIT, Mich. – Roosevelt dropped its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup with Wayne State in straight sets Saturday in Detroit.
Alessia Isgro led the Lakers (1-16, 0-8 GLIAC) with nine kills and a .302 hitting percentage, but the rest of the offense struggled.
Zoe Hutchinson dished out 11 assists and Isgro added two aces to her total.
Cydney Martinez recorded seven digs while
Vivienne Merchant and
Lihi Zaibert each had two blocks.
The Lakers fell behind early in the first set and never recovered in falling 25-13 to the Warriors. Roosevelt led 3-1 in the second set, but Wayne State went on another long run to claim the set 25-16. The third set was tied four times and the Lakers led by as many as five during the game. Wayne State took its first lead at 19-18 then held off Roosevelt for a 25-22 win in the final set.
UP NEXT: The Lakers now await their opponents for the Midwest Crossover next weekend in Hammond, Ind.
