CHICAGO – Four players from Roosevelt's football program were honored as members of the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday.

Senior wideout Alex Tran earned the honor for the second consecutive season after catching 18 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns this season. Senior tight end Jacob Biddle, offensive lineman Micah Walters and linebacker Michael Peyton were all first-time honorees for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. Biddle finished his season with 14 catches for 153 yards while Walters was a constant on the offensive line for the Lakers. Peyton registered 23 tackles, including three for a loss, while seeing time on both special teams and defense for Roosevelt.

In order to be named to the Academic All-District teams, a student-athlete not only hold at least a 3.5 grade point average as a sophomore or older, but also must have either appeared in 90 percent of a team's games or started 2/3 of a team's contests. The list of all-district honorees is then vetted by the CSC committee, who send out a ballot for All-American honors to the membership. The Academic All-American teams will be announced on Jan. 28.

The Academic All-America program is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports in all three NCAA divisions, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions. It was established in 1952 and the honorees are nominated by CSC members then All-American honors are voted on by the membership as well.
