CHICAGO – Roosevelt had no answer for the hot shooting of 23
rd-ranked Ferris State in a 96-43 loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at the Goodman Center.
The Lakers came out ready to play with an 8-2 run in the first two minutes of the game, but then the Bulldogs found their stroke. Roosevelt (2-5, 0-2 GLIAC) went the next 7:37 without a point as Ferris State went on a 15-0 run with pinpoint perimeter shooting. Overall, the Bulldogs made 11 of their first 13 attempts from behind the arc, quickly building up the deficit for Roosevelt.
It was an uncharacteristically poor offensive performance from the Lakers as turnovers and missed shots were an issue. Roosevelt shot just 26.4 percent from the field, but also committed 28 turnovers, which led to 34 points for the Bulldogs. Ferris State cooled down in the second half, shooting just 5 of 14 from 3-point range over the final 20 minutes, but the lead still grew and topped out at 54 points.
Emma Yurich led the Lakers in scoring with a career-best 10 points as 10 players overall scored for Roosevelt.
Jayla Turchin led the way on the glass with five rebounds and
Talya Tillman was the only player with more than one assist, finishing with two helpers. Turchin added six points and
Marie Outlay had eight.
UP NEXT: The Lakers will take a break for finals before returning to the court on Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m. against Lewis in Romeoville.
