Box Score CHICAGO – Fresh off a two-match winning streak, the Roosevelt University women's volleyball team returned to the Goodman Center to continue its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference slate on Tuesday, September 27 against the Crimson Wave from Calumet College of St. Joseph. After dropping the opening frame, the Lakers rallied to win the next three sets and extend their win streak to three.
The Lakers got caught off guard to start the match, falling down 5-1, before rallying to take the lead on a kill by Logan Cofield and several CCSJ attack errors. Despite leading by as many three points at 15-12, Roosevelt was unable to close out the set and the Crimson Wave stole the first set 25-23.
The first set loss turned out to be the wake-up call that the Nicasio Paquiz's team needed. The Lakers stormed out to a 7-1 advantage thanks to kills from Cofield, Jessa Henry, and Viktoria Marysheva. Roosevelt would maintain that lead throughout the set, eventually scoring the final 10 points of the match, including two more Marysheva kills, to take set two 25-12.
The Lakers maintained that momentum throughout the rest of the match. Henry paced the team with her second straight triple double, recording a team high 11 kills, team high 21 assists, and a second best 14 digs. Alyssa Stilley added 11 kills of her own, while Zoe Hutchinson accumulated 21 assists, and Vaiva Blistrabas had 18 digs. In the end, the Lakers took an early lead in both the third and fourth sets, winning them by 25-15 and 25-19 advantages respectively.
