Box Score EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – The Roosevelt University men's soccer team earned its first CCAC Conference victory of the year in convincing fashion with a 9-0 win over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) on Saturday, September 17. The Lakers are now 1-1 in conference play and 2-3 overall on the year.
Just over twenty minutes into the game, the Lakers erupted for five goals in a ten-minute span to take control of the game. Oskar Schuster opened the scoring in the 21st minute on a Valerio Joos assist with Carmel Saboutey Tettey adding a goal three minutes later with Jonathan Hernandez picking up the assist.
Jose Rivera upped the RU lead to 3-0 in the 25th minute with Joos earning his second assist of the contest, while Rivera then set up Eduardo Hernandez in the 27th minute for a 4-0 lead. Sebastian Rodriguez found the back of the net four minutes later with Raul Mariscal assisting on the play.
Roosevelt added two late first half goals with Otitolouwa Ojo scoring on another Mariscal assist in the 42nd minute and Rodriguez notching his second goal of the game in the 45th minute with Luis Arreola assisting on the goal for a 7-0 half-time lead.
The Lakers added two second half goals with Eduardo Hernandez scoring his second of the match in the 56th minute and Schuster also adding his second on a Rodriguez assist in the 66th minute for the 9-0 win.
