Volleyball Splits Two During Roosevelt Tri-Match

CHICAGO - Makenzie Cooper paced the Roosevelt volleyball team to a split of two matches during the Roosevelt Tri-Match inside the Goodman Center on Saturday.

The Lakers (1-2) rebounded from a 25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18 loss to Waldorf (Iowa) in the day's opener by defeating Lincoln (Ill.) in the event finale by a final of 15-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19.

Cooper paced the Lakers with 16 kills and 13 digs in victory against her former team after turning in eight kills against Waldorf. The senior tacked on three block assists.

Amy Stumpf added 11 kills against Lincoln, while Alyssa Stilley followed up her nine-kill showing against the Warriors by turning in eight against the Lynx.

Mackenzie Bell had nine kills, seven digs 24 assists in the win. She had 19 dimes to team with Mallory Nickelson's 18 helpers against Waldorf. Nickelson added 19 assists versus Lincoln.

Kendra Lee had identical seven-kill, 12-dig showings in each match.

The Lakers fought all day long, and RU rebounded from a first-set loss to the Lynx to take three consecutive frames thanks to a more efficient attack during that final trio of sets.

Waldorf (3-0) defeated Lincoln (1-2) in five sets for the day's other match result.

Roosevelt continues its home slate this Wednesday night against Moody Bible Institute at 7 p.m. inside the Goodman Center.
