CHICAGO – Roosevelt University head women's basketball coach Keisha Newell has announced the signing of eight student-athletes for the upcoming 2018-19 season.
This Lakers' incoming class of newcomers includes six true freshmen and two undergraduate transfers.
"I am excited about each of the student-athletes who will be joining our Laker family," Newell said. "This class will add great depth to our current roster. We are bringing in high-character student-athletes who will continue to build on the culture we have established in the last three seasons."

Emily Czuhajewski is a 5-foot-6 shooting guard who just finished up a sensational career at Chicago's Taft High School after averaging 19 points and garnering First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Area accolades. She was also a two-time Honorable Mention All-State and two-time All-City honoree. A three-sport athlete at Taft High School with softball and volleyball credentials on her sport resume, Czuhajewski has been a team captain since she stepped foot on a varsity court. She excels off the court as well with an impressive 4.0 GPA.

Carleen Jones is 5-foot-3 guard from Northside College Prep High School in Chicago. Jones starred for the Mustangs on the court and also has multi-sport experience as a prep athlete.

Paige Nestich is a 5-foot-4 point guard from Hobart High School in Northwest Indiana. A First Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Area selection, Nestich enters Roosevelt with a 3.8 GPA and a bevy of academic honors while also sporting multi-sport chops by captaining the soccer team at Hobart.

Nadia Thorman-Mckey is 5-foot-10 forward from Evanston Township High School. She shot 42 percent for the Wildkits as a senior and also played on the AAU circuit for All In Athletics.

Meleah Turner is a 5-foot-7 guard from Bellevue West High School in Bellevue, Nebraska. She was an Honorable Mention All-Class A standout.

Tanea White is a 5-foot-3 point guard from Bloom Trail High School in Steger, Illinois. She averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 4.7 steals per game as a senior, garnering All-Conference and All-Area awards in the process.

Kennedy Collins is 5-foot-7 guard from Plainfield, Illinois by way of the University of Dubuque. A former high school teammate of current Roosevelt Laker Ashley Smoldt, as both starred at Plainfield East, Collins saw action in 21 games for Dubuque last season.

Jennifer Warfield is a 6-foot forward from Itasca, Illinois by way of Quincy University in downstate Quincy, Illinois. She attended Lake Park High School, the same prep program that produced former Lakers Tori Clark and Emily Duckhorn, and averaged 13.1 points and 8.6 rebounds as a senior. The power forward was a unanimous All-Conference and All-Area team pick who can also shoot from downtown, connecting at a clip of 33 percent while winning the region's 3-point shooting contest. She played for the Illinois Lady Lightning AAU team and saw action in 33 games during a two-year tenure with the Quincy Hawks.
These new Lakers join eight returning student-athletes for a balanced attack of experienced veterans and fresh faces to tangle with the competitive Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2018-19.
