CHICAGO - Lindzy Cox's game-high 17 points and Jasmine Albert's double-double of 13 points and a game-best 14 rebounds paced the Roosevelt women's basketball team to a 77-45 victory over Trinity Christian inside the Goodman Center on Saturday afternoon.
Becca Bergman added eight points and seven assists for the Lakers (6-8, 2-5 CCAC), who caused 27 turnovers and scored 28 points off the takeaways.
Roosevelt's defense was credited with 18 steals and forced Trinity Christian (2-11, 0-7 CCAC) to shoot just under 30 percent (16-for-54) for the game. Five Lakers had at least two steals during the contest.
The Lakers jumped out to a 20-8 lead after one quarter and never looked back, bloating the advantage to 35 at one point.
"That was a lot of fun," Roosevelt head coach Keisha Newell said. "I am proud of our team for the energy that we brought for four quarters. Defensively we set the tone early, rebounded well, and forced some turnovers. We also did a really good job of getting our points in the paint and sharing the basketball. This was a big win for us."
Roosevelt hosts Dominican this Tuesday at the Goodman Center beginning at 5:30 p.m.
