Arabik's Two Second-Half Goals Send Men's Soccer Past Judson, Into CCAC Semifinals

ELGIN, Ill. – Albert Arabik scored two second-half goals to propel the Roosevelt men's soccer team past host Judson, 2-0, in a 2018 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Tournament quarterfinal match on Friday.

Sixth-seeded Roosevelt (7-10-1) advances to play second-seeded and 19th-ranked Olivet Nazarene in a semifinal match on Tuesday at Ward Field in Bourbonnais. Kickoff time to be announced.

Roosevelt advances to the CCAC semifinals for the second consecutive year and the third time in four seasons.

The two sides played to a scoreless stalemate in the first half despite the third-seeded Eagles (10-6-3) holding a 7-2 shot advantage during the period.

Arabik broke through four minutes after the end of intermission, taking a ball from Ricardo Estrada and knocking it past keeper Brandon Gorka for the opening strike.

The match stayed 1-0 in the Lakers' favor as Judson sought the equalizer, but then Arabik crushed the Eagles' dreams of leveling the match when he gathered a ball from Laith Srour and beat Gorka again in the 80th minute to add critical insurance.

Arabik's two goals gave the Leyden product and UIC transfer three goals against Judson in 2018.

Jesus Velasco made four saves en route to the clean sheet, marking the senior's first postseason shutout.
