CHICAGO – The shorthanded Roosevelt men's soccer team fell to host Saint Xavier, 3-0, at Deaton Field on Tuesday night.
Playing without a number of regular Starting XI men such as Anibal Mendoza along with key reserves, the Lakers (6-9-1, 5-4-1 CCAC) couldn't muster any offense against the Cougars (7-8-2, 4-4-2 CCAC) despite outshooting SXU 18-10.
Saint Xavier struck first in the 35th minute when Ricardo Aldape headed in a ball from Danny Lopez.
The Cougars added the key second goal in the 54th minute when Danny Lopez converted a penalty kick, and then the Aldape-Lopez connection struck again off a breakaway in the 90th minute as Roosevelt was trying to press forward.
The Lakers take on eighth-ranked Cardinal Stritch at the Bavarian Soccer Club on Saturday night to close out the regular season.
