DEERFIELD, Ill. – Paige Gallimore and Lindzy Cox scored 17 points apiece as the Roosevelt women's basketball team set a dominating tone early and carried that to a 68-56 road victory at Trinity International at Van Dixhorn Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Becca Bergman chipped in 12 points for the Lakers (13-6, 7-3 CCAC), who won their third consecutive game and ninth decision in the last 11 contests.
Roosevelt shot 62 percent (8-for-13) in the first quarter while holding the Lady Trojans (4-12, 1-9 CCAC) to a 3-for-11 start from the floor to take a 20-8 lead after 10 minutes.
While Trinity International, led by Tashyra Burrough's game-high 19 points, picked up the pace and made things closer the rest of the way, it was the Lakers controlling the paint and the glass to stay ahead comfortably most of the way. Roosevelt outscored TIU in the lane 36-16 and held a four-board advantage.
The Lakers scored 19 points off 19 Trinity turnovers for another area that spurred the Green and White.
Roosevelt dips out of CCAC play for a day with a road trip to Alma (Mich.) on Monday.
